NOVI SAD (FIBA U19 World Championship) - The United States continued their 100% record at the FIBA U19 World Championship in Novi Sad with a 90-81 triumph over Lithuania in the eighth-finals.

David Lighty led the way for the winners with 19 points, and was ably supported by Deon Thompson (17 points) and Patrick Beverley (14).

Small forward Deividas Gailius and power forward Lukas Brazdauskis were the only Lithuanians to manage double figures, with 19 and 13 points respectively.

Lithuania spent much of the first period trailing, but battled back to find themselves 19-18 up at the 10-minute mark.

The Americans forged ahead at the start of the second quarter, however, and had built a six-point advantage at 45-39 by the halfway stage.

Then came a third period in which the United States really asserted themselves, dominating their European opponents and taking the honours 30-18 to go 75-57 up by the three-quarter mark.

The Americans took their foot off the gas in the final period and Lithuania battled back bravely to clinch it 24-15, but it was not enough.
